Description (English)
San Lazzaro di Savena, near Bologna, will host the 13th European Deaf Bowling Championships from June 29 to July 12, welcoming athletes from across Europe. The event will feature individual, doubles, team, and all-events competitions for both men and women.
The local bowling center, which recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, will provide 40 lanes for the tournament. Organizers highlight the importance of the championship not only as a major sporting event but also as an opportunity to promote inclusion and showcase sport for deaf athletes.
Participants are expected to stay in the area for nearly two weeks, bringing significant visibility and economic benefits to the local community. The competition is organized under the umbrella of the European Deaf Sport Organization (EDSO), with support from local clubs and volunteers.
Italy’s Deaf Sports Federation considers the championship an important step in strengthening the country’s position in international deaf sports and in encouraging greater participation in bowling among both deaf and hearing athletes.
